What to Bring to a Playdate

August 27, 2024 · In: Lifestyle

When you head off to a new friends house for that first playdate you may be wondering what to bring. You don’t want to assume they will provide drinks, snacks, etc. for you and your kiddo so you’ll want to arrive prepared. Below are some items, aside from the obvious diapers and wipes, that we like to bring to a playdate.

products to bring to a playdate - water bottle for mom and kid, snacks, hand wipes, hand sanitizer, hair ties, travel first aid kit and dry powder sunscreen.

Current Products We Are Loving

WATER BOTTLES (for Mom & Toddler) – We always have a water bottle wherever we go, including playdates. As I mentioned above I don’t like to assume the host of the playdate will provide drinks so we bring our own. We usually have them in the car or diaper bag anyway so it’s not a big deal to bring them along. I love the new color Stanly above and how cute is the floral water bottle by Simple Modern?

SNACK BAG – Need I say more? We always have snacks. Again, for the first playdate I don’t want to assume the host will provide snacks so we load some up just in case. You don’t want to be left with a snack meltdown at a playdate. This bag is the perfect size and its pretty cute. The word ‘snack’ written on it let’s you know what’s inside incase the see through bag wasn’t clear enough – pun intended!

HAIR TIES – I have all boys so this one is really for me. I find myself always looking for a hair tie or clip so I keep a few in my bag just incase. Obviously if you have a kid with longer hair these come in handy for them too. This particular hair tie is an Amazon Choice! It’s soft elastic that does not stretch out easily which is perfect for kids with sensitive scalps.

HAND WIPES – We can all use these! Whether its to wipe off your kids hands, blow their nose or pick up a mess, these wipes always come in handy. This is one of my favorite brands.

HAND SANITIZER – I’ll admit the Touchland hand sanitizer is a bit expensive but it does look cute and smells great! Whatever brand is your go to it’s always good to have hand sanitizer around.

TRAVEL FIRST AID KIT – This one is a must! Toddlers are wild and you never know when you’ll need a Band-Aid…even if its not really necessary. If you know you know! I love that this travel kit of 75 pieces comes with mini scissors, tweezer for that splinter, thermometer strips, and so much more. Stickers are also included for the bigger injuries that need a little something special after being treated.

KID SUNSCREEN – Lastly is powder kid safe sunscreen for their face. If you have fair skinned kids like me then you know how important sunscreen is. I like to have a face sunscreen with me at all times as their cheeks get so red without it. I find the powder is easier to apply. This is the current brand we are using. It’s great!

That’s about it. As I like to say, less is more so we try to keep our diaper bag pretty light. I’d love to hear what your favorite items are to bring to a playdate. Let us know in the comments below!

Cheers!

Send the kids out in the yard to gather leafs or go on a neighborhood walk. Once you have enough leaves of various shapes, sizes and colors head back to the house to assemble. Start by making a face out of construction paper and googly eyes, glue the face on a clothespin and clasped your favorite leaves to the pin.

Introducing: Trader Joe’s Mac-N-Cheese in a mini crockpot 🧀

I’m making this for 15 toddlers so they don’t need much. I buy 3 of the frozen Mac-n-cheese boxes, partially heat them in a microwave (for 3min), dump in a mini crockpot and plug in the crockpot at school. That’s it! Like I said, quick and easy 🙌🏼
